We visited St. Thomas for a long weekend getaway to celebrate a birthday and had a great time! St. Thomas is known for its stunning beaches, vibrant culture, endless island outdoor activities, and history.
Things To Do:
1. Magens Bay
Magens Bay is one of the best rated beaches in the Caribbean. The drive to get there was a little tricky because you have to go up the mountain, before heading back down to the beach. This made for some amazing views along the way! There is an entrance fee of $5.00 per person (kids under 12 are free). There are restrooms, a quick service restaurant, beach bar, and a beach shop where you can rent chairs and umbrellas. Having a Painkiller drink at the beach bar is a must do in the islands! Tip: go on a non-cruise ship day to avoid huge crowds.
2. Ziplining
Ziplining through the trees with breathtaking views of Magen’s Bay down below was a hit with the girls. The boys and I stayed behind since the minimum weight is 70 lbs to zip.
3. Charlotte Amalie
Charlotte Amalie is the capital city and is filled with shops, restaurants, and beautiful Caribbean architecture.
4. VI Ecotours
Kayak, Hike and Snorkel at Cas Cay with VI Ecotours
5. Lady Lynsey
Lady Lynsey is an incredible catamaran experience that sails out of the Ritz resort. We enjoyed a day full of snorkeling off St. John.
6. Mountain Top
Mountain Top is known for their banana daiquiris and killer view of Magens Bay. It’s worth the trip up the mountain for a drink and trip to the nearby Phantasea Tropical Botanical Garden
7. Buck Island National Wildlife Refuge
Buck Island National Wildlife Refuge is a protected bird sanctuary so no one is allowed to actually step foot on the island! Boat tours grant you access to the best spot to snorkel with sea turtles, Turtle Cove. Turtle Cove is filled with coral reefs, a shipwreck, and of course, sea turtles. I suggest booking a tour with VI CAT, who sails out of the Marriott Frenchman’s Cove resort.
8. Hull Bay Beach
Hull Bay Beach is a great beach for minimal crowds and surf watching. There is a cute food truck and bar for your enjoyment as well.
Where to Stay
Ritz Carlton St. Thomas
This is where we called home for a few days and had access to the Club lounge. Club lounges at Ritz Carlton’s make your experience all-inclusive. Since we had this added experience, we didn’t venture out of the resort too much for food. The Ritz offers 2 outdoor pools and a children’s pool, with a waterslide, cabanas, and sun loungers.
