Mashable launched Social Media Day in 2010 as a way to recognize and celebrate social media’s impact on global communication.
Today, many people rely 100% on social media to run their business. I’ve bought outfits from a boutique off Instagram and learned about an many business grand openings via Facebook. We have Youtube stars, Instagram favorites, and Snapchat celebrities. Families are making millions off videos of them opening plastic eggs! It’s total madness, but it’s totally awesome at the same time.
We’re not all on social media to make money though. Social media gives us notice on our family’s whereabouts. It informs us who is getting married and who’s having baby. We see who just got a new job, and who is currently flying on an airplane.
Social media allows us to collaborate or share content to the world from our own little corner office! It connects us all.
Social Media day is essentially every day, but we’re celebrating Social Media Day in Tampa Bay on June 30th! This is the seventh year Tampa Bay is participating with hundreds of local social media professionals, influencers, and bloggers celebrating along with the @NHIEguys, Ryan & Nicholas.
Get your tickets to join us for #SMDayTampa! Visit http://ow.ly/GrtJ30cxt0B to register. Although the main event is free of charge, all attendees are encouraged to make a small donation towards this year’s local charity, Gasparilla Music Fest. GMF is a local nonprofit that celebrates the best of Tampa Bay’s diverse music scene, highlighting local emerging acts and nationally recognized headliners. Each donation will grant you raffle tickets to win great local baskets!
