Pregnancy Update — 33 weeks

Oddly enough I think this is my first pregnancy “update” post for this pregnancy. Funny, since  I documented weekly with my first pregnancy.
This time around I’m so occupied by two little ladies, building/designing a house, working, and blogging that sometimes I don’t even remember that I’m pregnant..until I try to do a swift move and throw out my back.

So how has this pregnancy been going? Well…I’ve been called huge, asked if there was a possibility that I was having twins, can barely breathe sometimes, and have extreme back pains…so basically it’s the most wonderful thing ever!

No, but really, there’s nothing I’d rather be doing right now than creating this child to welcome into our growing family. I don’t have any major issues in pregnancy so I call that a blessing! I may be sick but I’m not extremely sick. I may have body aches, but what else would one expect when gaining weight and carrying it all straight out in front of you? 🙂 Pregnancy is truly miracle to me!! (This does not mean it’s easy!!)

Now on to what’s been going on…

E

Weight Gain:

I’m 33 weeks pregnant, so I definitely feel large. 😉 Like a big beautiful butterfly.

This pregnancy hasn’t been much different than my others, as I’ve gained about the same with all of them. I’m not here for you to compare your pregnancy weight gain with me, as every person is different. I run, I eat healthy a majority of the time, and I still gained 11 lbs in one month. That was just one month! It’s just what happens…to me. And you know what? I’m not worried about it. I’ve never been worried about weight gain during pregnancies because this isn’t the time in my life to worry about that. I will workout and kick ass as soon as I’m not pregnant, so what’s the worry? I’m not trying to fit into any pre-pregnancy clothes at the moment, I’ve actually boxed up all my pre-pregnancy clothing because I just don’t feel like looking at them every time I go to get dressed. That’s all I’m going to say about pregnancy weight gain…

Pains:

Leg cramps! I guess since I’ve been blessed and don’t have to wake up 5 times in the middle of the night to go pee, instead I wake up in the middle of the night with severe leg cramps. The entire bottom half of my leg (calf to foot) will cramp up in waves (like contractions). Just when they go away, they’ll come back in full force. This goes on for about 30 minutes. I’ll have to get up and walk around (at 3am) for them to finally go away. Also, the outside of my feet hurt, almost like they’re bruised. Basically my legs are about to fall off and I need a massage ASAP. 😉

Exhaustion:

My tired level has reached it’s peak this week. Since I’ve been waking up super early the past week with leg cramps,  not able to go back to sleep, I’m exhausted by 3:00 pm. That’s just in time for the girl’s to get home from school, cook dinner, and go to the gym. I’m hoping to get a burst of energy in the next week two, because LAWD HELP ME.

Cravings:

I’ve never experienced any prominent cravings, except in the beginning when all I want is carbs. My appetite is pretty much normal most days. Some days I’ll have 5 bites and feel like I’m about to burst, while other days I’ll eat an entire meal and wonder where dessert is. The latter is getting sparse around this time because there is barely enough room for my lungs to fully expand. Struggles…

Exercising:

With Penelope (who was 8.5lbs), I couldn’t even hunch over without gasping for air. There was absolutely no room in my body left towards the end. That’s how this one is…right now with 7 weeks still to go! I will be folding laundry, washing dishes, reading the girls a bedtime story and be completely out of breath. Angelo often stops to ask me if I’m OK.
But, then I can get on the treadmill and run 2-3 miles and be fine…until this week. My running really slowed down last week. I was having a lot of pressure every time I ran for more than half a mile, so I’ve switched it up to fast paced walking at an incline on the treadmill. It still gets my heart rate up without the added pressure. Also, I get a bad cramp (like a running cramp) on my right side almost every time I ran on the treadmill. It’s totally my body/baby telling me to take it easy, and I listen. LISTEN TO YOUR BODY! This is not the time in life to push myself. The only pushing to occur will be when it’s time to push this baby out! Alternatives to my runs on the treadmill have been the elliptical and stair master. A couple times a week I will do at-home workouts consisting of arm exercises using the dumbbells, simple leg exercises (squats, lunges), and then use the foam roller. Ahhhh the foam roller!

All caught up!

I think that’s about all that’s been going on specifically with this pregnancy…at the moment. This could all totally change tomorrow or next week, or keep going until the day I give birth. The unpredictability of pregnancy!

I have about 7 weeks to go and I’m trying to savor these last weeks with just our family of 4!!

Cheers (mocktails) to all my beautiful pregnancy mama’s out there! LOVE YOURSELF!

XOXO

Simple Thanksgiving Tablescapes

Simple Thanksgiving Tablescapes

While my house may scream “It’s Christmas” by mid-November, I always have a table or two dedicated to Thanksgiving. I want the table to be simple, welcoming, and just as pretty as the Thanksgiving foods on it. I don’t use the traditional Thanksgiving colors, as I like...

All the Details on our Kitchen Remodel

All the Details on our Kitchen Remodel

I want to start off and let you know I had to google what the difference between a ‘remodel’ and ‘renovation’ is for this post. A remodel is making changes to the structure, while a renovation is more like a restoration. Now that we’re all in the know on that, I’m...

Toasted S’more Espresso Martini

Espresso Martinis have taken this generation by the hand and led us to a land where we don’t have to choose between coffee and alcohol on a night out on the town. LOL! It’s a drink that makes heads turn and the entire table will order one as soon as they’re mentioned....
